Holy Convocation

Exodus
12:15  Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.
12:16  And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
12:17  And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.

Holy Convocation - It is a summoned, an assembly or sacred and sanctified gathering of God's people. It is repeated each year for the new generation that has entered the church; therefore every one must be instructed and reminded of the things of God.

This holy ordinance also known as the Passover became an annual remembrance of how God delivered the Hebrew children from Egypt. The people would pause during this time to remember the day when the destroyer (God's angel of death) passed over their homes and then they would begin to give thanks to God for saving them from death and from the land of slavery and sin. This ordinance also provided a time to refresh the mind and body and to renew one's commitment to God. Special worship days as this come to enrich the life of God's people.
